What could be better on a cold day than a warm, alcoholic beverage? And since the Founding Fathers like to drink it, you can pretend you just gave a history lesson, making being tipsy part of an education! Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, plus Rum and butter. Yep, I’m in!

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar – light or dark, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground clove
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 4 cups boiling water or apple cider
  • 1 1/2 cups Rum – dark, light or spiced!
  1. Put the butter, brown sugar, spices and salt in a large bowl. Use a wooden spoon or hand mixer to beat everything together until combined.
  2. Divide the mixture between 6 mugs (or make 1 drink at a time by putting a big blob in your mug. Top the butter mix with hot water or apple cider and stir until melted. Add in 1.5 oz of the Rum (or more!) and stir again before drinking and relaxing!
